Itinerary For Our Self-Guided Bike Tour from Venice to Florence

Day 1Arrival in Chioggia

One of our representatives will meet you at a local hotel. They will fit your bikes and provide an orientation for the week. You have an optional ride today, or take time to explore the city.

Cycling: 11 miles
Lodging: Hotel Domus Clugie or Similar
Meals: None

Day 2Discover the Po River

Today, you will cycle the levees of the Po River delta. As you pedal away from the picturesque canals and iconic architecture of Venice, the landscape transforms into a serene riverside haven. The Po River, Italy’s longest river, unveils a scenic tapestry of lush plains, charming villages, and sprawling vineyards. Tonight you will stay in a  lovely Agriturismo.

Day 3Cycle to Comacchio

Nestled in the heart of the picturesque Po Delta in northeastern Italy, Comacchio is a hidden gem that beckons travelers with its unique charm and rich cultural heritage. Often referred to as “Little Venice” due to its intricate network of canals and bridges, Comacchio is a small but enchanting town that exudes a tranquil ambiance. Known for its’ local eel fishery, Commachio offers a variety of culinary offerings.

Day 4Comacchio to Ravenna

Today, you will visit one of our favorite Italian towns. Ravenna, renowned for its splendid mosaics and significant historical sites, emerges as a mosaic of its own, blending the influences of the Byzantine, Roman, and medieval eras. Pedaling through the cobbled streets, cyclists encounter architectural marvels like the Basilica of San Vitale and the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, where intricately detailed mosaics narrate tales of a bygone era. The city’s well-preserved UNESCO World Heritage sites, including the Baptistry of Neon and the Arian Baptistery, provide a glimpse into Ravenna’s pivotal role in history.

Day 5 Ravenna to Faenza

As you pedal away from Ravenna’s ancient charm, the route takes you through undulating hills adorned with vineyards and olive groves, offering a scenic backdrop to the adventure. En route, you will discover quaint villages and rustic countryside, providing a glimpse into the authentic Italian way of life. The journey is punctuated by the allure of historical landmarks, such as the medieval churches and castles that dot the landscape. Faenza, famous for its exquisite ceramics, awaits at the end of the cycling trail, with its well-preserved historical center and vibrant artisan workshops.

Day 6 The Hills of Tuscany

Choose to challenge yourself with a bit of climbing through the hills of Tuscany or let the train carry you to the charming town of Ronta where your hosts will serve you dinner.

Meals: Breakfast and Dinner
Lodging: Albergo La Rosa or similar

Day 7 Discover Florence

Start your day with a little more climbing and enjoy stunning views of Florence from above.  You can pause to visit some Etruscan city of  Fiesole before an easy decent into Florence.

Cycling: 26 miles Elevation Gain 1400 feet
Meals: Breakfast 
Lodging: Hotel Silla or similar

Day 8Tour Ends
