A Typical Day on a Summer Feet BicycleTour

6:00-9:00 am

Rollover and go back to sleep? Or get up and enjoy the early morning calm of the Maine Coast? The choice is yours. Early birds may hear the low growl of diesel engines as the Lobster Boats head out to haul their traps and will definitely encounter the trip leaders as they prepare for a wonderful day.

8:00-9:00 am

Breakfast, most of our inns offer flexibility with breakfast. Whether you want to enjoy a leisurely gourmet meal and extra cup of coffee or sleep until the last minute and grab a quick bowl of granola and some fresh fruit, the choice is entirely yours.

9:30 am

Route Review, we gather as a group to review the day’s ride and the highlights of the day. Each day will offer at least three choices for cycling distance and you never have to choose the distance you wish to cycle until you get to that fork in the road.

9:45 am

Once everyone has route notes and maps you and are free to cycle at your own pace, some folks may go off in flash while others may dawdle. The best way to experience the Maine Coast is on the seat of a bicycle.

10:00 am-12:30 pm

You are having a wonderful vacation. Maine is more beautiful than you imagined. The support van comes by and stops to check on you. It is fun to pause in the sun and chat. The leaders keep pushing food on you. The fresh fruit looks great, but not nearly as good as the chocolate. Go ahead have two. You are on vacation.

12:30-2:00 pm

Lunch on a Summer Feet Trip is always a treat. When our route finds a wonderful, scenic picnic spot, the guides prepare a gourmet picnic lunch. There is always too much food and it all looks so good. Salads are a highlight and are different every day. Will it be a fresh fruit salad or mixed greens with pear and fresh parmesan? If lunch time brings us into a town, then it will be lunch at a charming little café with ample time to wander the town.

2:00-5:00 pm

More cycling? There is always plenty of cycling. Or if you are happy and tired let the van take you to the end of the day.

5:00-7:00 pm

Time to relax and savor the day. Explore the town, read a book, enjoy a glass of wine, take a nap. Do whatever you please.

7:00 pm

Whether we are getting dirty cracking lobster at a picnic table overlooking the ocean or enjoying fine dining at one of Maine’s many chef owned restaurants, dinners are always a highlight of the trip.

10:00 pm

Settle into bed happy and tired after a day of activity and fun. The curtains flutter in the sweet ocean breeze as you nod off to sleep and dream about tomorrow.
