Itinerary For Le P'tit Train du Nord Bike Tour

DAY 1: Mont-Laurier to Nomininigue

Your Adventure Begins

We handle the details. You just ride and enjoy.

Your adventure begins in Saint-Jérôme where, if renting a bike, there will be a bike fitting before boarding a scenic shuttle north to Mont-Laurier. From there, you set off on the legendary P’tit Train du Nord trail — one of the most beautiful rail-trails in North America.

The path winds through towering forests and alongside shimmering lakes as you make your way south at your own pace. Stop when you want. Linger where you love. There’s no rush to be anywhere but right where you are.

Tonight, settle into the warm, welcoming Auberge Chez Ignace and enjoy a wonderful three-course dinner — you’ve earned it.

What You’ll Feel: The immediate shift. The city stress melts away with every pedal stroke. The forest surrounds you. The adventure ahead feels full of promise.

The Day:

  • Cycling: 36.4 miles | elevation gain 1,303 ft
  • Meals: Breakfast & Dinner
  • Lodging: Auberge Chez Ignace
  • Transfer: 2-3 hours from Saint Jerome to Mont Laurier

Trail Legend: Le P’tit Train du Nord follows the route of an old railway line that once connected Montreal to the Laurentian resort towns. Today, it’s pure cycling magic.

DAY 2: Nomininigue to Mont-Tremblant

Through Charming Villages to Resort Town Energy

Not a tourist — an explorer.

Wake up refreshed and ready for another stunning day on the trail. You pedal through the charming villages of Rivière-Rouge and Labelle, where the fragrance of pine mingles with crisp mountain air.

The trail delivers one beautiful vista after another — and they’re all yours to discover at your own tempo. Take photos. Stop for coffee. Breathe it all in.

Before you know it, you roll into Mont-Tremblant — one of Québec’s most celebrated destinations. Check in to the stylish 900 Tremblant and spend the evening exploring this vibrant resort town at your own pace. Restaurants, shops, and that distinctive Québécois energy await.

What You’ll Feel: The perfect balance. Forest solitude all day, resort town vibrancy all evening. The best of both worlds.

The Day:

  • Cycling: 36.8 miles | elevation gain 1,233 ft
  • Meals: Breakfast
  • Lodging:  900 Tremblant

Mont-Tremblant Magic: This pedestrian village feels like a little slice of Europe dropped into the Laurentians. Wander freely — you’ve got all evening.

DAY 3: Mont-Tremblant to Sainte-Adele

Through the Heart of the Laurentians

Breathe deep. Move freely. Feel alive.

Today the trail takes you through the heart of the Laurentians, past pristine lakes and into Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts — a gorgeous lakeside town featuring an outdoor sculpture garden that’s worth a leisurely stop. This is the kind of place you’d never find if you were rushing.

Continue south as the scenery shifts and the villages grow more charming at every turn. The riding is steady, the views are endless, and the pace is entirely yours.

Tonight, you’ll be the guests of Au Clos Rolland, a true hidden gem — the kind of place that feels like a discovery.

What You’ll Feel: Connected to this landscape in a way that only comes from moving through it slowly, deliberately, on two wheels.

The Day:

  • Cycling: 36.1 miles | elevation gain 1,207 ft
  • Meals: Breakfast
  • Lodging: Au Clos Rolland

Art & Nature: The sculpture garden in Sainte-Agathe is a local treasure. Take your time wandering through — art and nature have a way of speaking to each other here.

DAY 4: Saint-Adele to Saint-Jérôme

The Perfect Finale

Stories you’ll tell for years.

All great adventures have a finale, and this one delivers. Your last morning on the trail winds through a handful of quaint villages before the path returns you to Saint-Jérôme — right back where your journey began.

Take a moment to soak it in. Four days, one hundred twenty-five miles, unforgettable landscapes, and memories that will last well beyond the ride home.

You arrived with your curiosity. You leave with stories, photos, and the quiet confidence that comes from navigating one of North America’s most beautiful trails — entirely on your own.

What You’ll Feel: Accomplished. Grateful. Already planning your return to Québec.

The Day:

  • Cycling: 16.3 miles | elevation gain 1,207 ft
  • Meals: Breakfast

Full Circle: You started in Saint-Jérôme. You finish in Saint-Jérôme. But you’re not the same cyclist who began this journey four days ago.

Frequently asked questions

How challenging is the riding on this tour?

This itinerary is designed for riders who are comfortable cycling 17–40 miles per day. The daily distances are ridden primarily along the well-maintained Le P’tit Train du Nord rail trail. Because it follows a former railway line, grades are generally gradual and steady rather than steep. You’ll encounter rolling sections and modest elevation gain, but nothing extreme.

The majority of the route follows Le P’tit Train du Nord — a wide, dedicated multi-use rail trail with a compacted gravel surface. It is smooth, well-maintained, and suitable for hybrid bikes and gravel-style riding. A few connecting sections may include paved roads through villages.

This is a self-guided experience, meaning you ride independently each day while we take care of the logistics. We provide a professional bike fitting and orientation, a shuttle to Mont-Laurier to begin your journey, detailed GPS routes and cue sheets, thoughtfully selected inns, and daily luggage transfers between towns. Support is available if needed, but otherwise you’re free to ride at your own pace. It’s the balance many cyclists appreciate — the freedom of independent travel with the reassurance that the details have already been handled.

This route takes you through the Laurentian region of Quebec — pristine lakes, pine forests, charming small towns, and wide-open landscapes. You’ll ride through the trailside towns of Nominingue, Rivière Rouge, Labelle, Mont-Tremblant, Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, and Val-David — each with its own character.

Each night you stay in locally owned inns and B&Bs selected for comfort and character. In Nominingue, you’ll enjoy a three-course dinner at your inn. Mont-Tremblant and Saint-Adele offer charming village atmospheres with walkable restaurants and cafés.
