This fully-guided exploration of Peaks Island takes in dramatic coastal scenery, offers us a chance to explore Peaks Island’s role in WW2, and includes a stop for a tasty lobster roll.
Tours depart at 9.45am from the Portland Encyclepedia at 6 Commercial Street and return usually around 2:45 pm.
Daily from May through Mid-October for groups of 4 or more
Price: $175.00 per person
Guides will meet you at the Portland Encyclepedia for a bike fitting. Enjoy great views of downtown Portland and Casco Bay on the short ferry ride to Peaks.
A few small hills will get us onto the road around the island. We will stop to visit the 5th Maine Museum and Battery Steele to learn how this small island played a vital role in two wars.
We will cycle the island’s coast for stunning views of the Ram Island Ledge Light – unmissable Maine coastal scenery.
Our ride leaves us time to enjoy a lobster roll and poke around town before we queue for the ferry (part of the island experience) and return to Portland on the 14:45 ferry.
Total cycling: six miles.
