Peaks Island Tour
A short ferry ride. A quiet island. A really good way to spend a day.
Peaks Island is only a 20-minute ferry ride from Portland, but it feels a world away. Once you step off the boat, everything slows down — fewer cars, quieter roads, wide views of Casco Bay.
This tour is about easy riding and taking your time. The island loop is short and mostly flat, which means we can focus on where we are instead of how fast we’re going.
After meeting your guide in Portland, we’ll get bikes fitted and take the ferry across the bay together. The ride over is part of the experience — watching the city fade behind you and the islands come into view.
On Peaks, we’ll bike quiet roads that circle the island, stopping often for views, photos, and a bit of local history. We’ll visit Battery Steele, one of the island’s old coastal forts, and pass rocky shoreline, small beaches, and classic island homes along the way.
There’s time built in to explore on your own — grab a coffee, walk down to the water, or just sit for a bit and enjoy being somewhere that feels removed from the rest of the world.
By the time we take the ferry back to Portland, most guests say the same thing: they can’t believe how close this place is — and how relaxed they feel.
