Our Acadia National Park Bike Tour Itinerary

DAY 1 Carriage Roads: Where the Journey Begins

Meet us in Bar Harbor in the early afternoon, right at the gateway to Acadia National Park, where the pace begins to shift.

The ride starts on John D. Rockefeller Jr.’s legendary Carriage Roads — smooth gravel paths designed for slow travel and quiet discovery. You’ll roll beneath stands of pine and birch, pass still ponds that mirror the sky, and cross elegant stone bridges built to be noticed, not rushed over. With no cars and forgiving grades, the riding feels immersive and free, the kind that encourages conversations to fade naturally when the views open up.

By late afternoon, you return to Bar Harbor feeling like you’ve already settled into the rhythm of the place. As evening arrives, the group gathers for dinner at a favorite local restaurant — good food, easy conversation, and the beginning of shared stories and connections that tend to last beyond the trip.

  • Cycling: 27 miles | elevation gain 1,706 ft
  • Meals: Dinner
  • Lodging: First of 2 nights at The Pathmaker Hotel

DAY 2 The Schoodic Peninsula: Maine’s Rugged Soul

This morning begins on the water.

A ferry ride across Frenchman Bay carries you toward the Schoodic Peninsula, where Acadia reveals a quieter, wilder side. Here, the coastline feels less polished and more elemental — granite ledges meet open ocean, lobster boats work the horizon, and long stretches of road where the sound of the surf sets the tone.

You’ll pedal quiet coastal roads through Winter Harbor and along Grindstone Neck, passing summer cottages and working wharves that hint at generations shaped by the sea. A short walk along a tucked-away beach in Corea offers a glimpse of a Maine coastline many visitors never reach.

By day’s end, fresh lobster by the water feels less like a meal and more like a well-earned reward — the kind that tastes better after a day spent exploring places that don’t rush to reveal themselves.

  • Cycling: 30 miles | elevation gain 1,559 ft
  • Meals: Breakfast & Lunch & Dinner
  • Lodging: Second of 2 nights at The Pathmaker Hotel

DAY 3 Park Loop Road: The Grand Finale

Your final ride follows Acadia’s famed Park Loop Road, where sea and stone come together in long, dramatic stretches.

You’ll pause at places that beg your attention — Thunder Hole and Sand Beach — and for those who want one last challenge, there’s the option to climb Cadillac Mountain, the highest point on the Atlantic coast of the United States. From the summit, the view stretches wide in every direction, a reminder of how much ground you’ve covered in just a few days.

It’s a fitting finish: equal parts exhilaration and reflection, capped by the quiet satisfaction that comes from earning these moments rather than passing them by.

  • Cycling Options: 21 or 27 miles | elevation gain 2,624 ft or less
  • Meals: Breakfast

Note: the tour generally concludes between 1:00 and  3:00 pm.

Views were amazing. Guides were friendly and personable. Lobster roll was delicious. I upgraded to the ebike (first time riding one) and 10/10 recommend it. I wasn’t looking for a workout. Just wanted to see the sights and enjoy myself. Portland was my favorite stop from a New England cruise.

Five Stars to Rick (our guide) and the folks at Summer Feet Cycling. The ride was perfectly tailored to our group of nine middle aged individuals. The sights were terrific and the lobster role for lunch was the best I have ever eaten. Thanks for making our time in Maine a memorable experience.

Our Summer Feet cycle along the Maine coast was glorious. In early September, we had perfect weather. We cycled along breathtaking views. Then we caught our breath in quaint Maine towns and fishing villages. Each evening our luggage was waiting for us at a charming inn, where we were served breakfast before heading out the next morning. The Summer Feet staff were friendly and efficient. We will hope to plan another Summer Feet trip soon! Pedal The Coast
