Tour Overview

Portland is a great city for biking, and for craft alcohol. And with so many craft breweries located near safe paths, we are happy to present three different Bike and Brews Tours in Portland!

The gathering point is  The Portland Encyclepedia on Commercial Street. This is where you will meet your expert guide and check out the provided bikes and helmets. Since there are many craft breweries, wineries, and distilleries located near safe bike paths, we offer two different Bike and Brews Tours.

After a brief safety talk, it is time to hop on board the bikes and pedal our way as a group towards the first stop.

Our three-mile routes mostly feature biking on mixed-use paths where no vehicles are allowed, and there is considerable biking along the ocean with scenic views out to many islands in Casco Bay.

Along the way, we will make a few stops to learn about Portland’s rich history from the Rum Riots to Prohibition.

At each stop, we will learn a little bit about each company, meet the people responsible for delivering quality craft beverages, and sample their various products.

After biking our way to each of our stops, together we will head back to the starting point with a better understanding of Portland’s thirst for outstanding craft beer and other beverages.

Itinerary

ALL BEER! Early Afternoon Itinerary11:30 am – 2:30 pm

Suggested Itinerary: Oxbow Blending & Bottling | Belleflower Brewing | Apres or Hi-Fidelity Brewing

This all brewery and beer tour is the perfect way to start your adventures in Portland. We will be on a three-mile route that uses some surface streets, but returns on mixed-use paths where no vehicles are allowed.

Each brewery is producing a wide range of styles and flavors. We will also be pointing out several other great places you might want to check out while you are in the city. On the trip back we will be on a path right along the ocean with scenic views of many islands in Casco Bay.

MIX OF BEER, WINE, AND SPIRITS! Late Afternoon Itinerary3:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Typical Itinerary: Maine Mead Works | Three of Strong Spirits | Lone Pine Brewing

Looking for something that will please everyone? Our late afternoon itinerary visits a brewery, winery, and distillery! This route will get the mild hill out of the way first, and we will pause at the top to learn about the oldest burial ground in Portland (and to catch our breath).

Then it’s on to learn about the world’s oldest fermented beverage – mead, or honey wine. A stop at a well-known brewery and a rum-fueled distillery should do the trick as we use an oceanside path to safely return to the Encyclepedia.
