5 Lighthouse Bike Tour in Portland, Maine Itinerary

Daily Tour

Discover the Coastal Gems of Portland, Maine, on our 5-Lighthouse Bike Tour

Our adventure begins in the heart of Portland’s historic Old Port District. Crossing the Casco Bay Bridge, we journey to a scenic bike path that takes us through Ferry Village—one of Portland’s most delightful neighborhoods—and onward to Bug Light, the beacon marking the entrance to the Portland Breakwater.

We delve into the history of the lighthouse, admire the spectacular views from the park, and learn about the Liberty Ships built during World War II. From here, we pedal on to the Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse and Fort Preble, a 19th-century stone fortification steeped in history.

Our tour continues as we meander through South Portland’s picturesque beachfront community before cycling onto Shore Road, known for its prestigious residences. Our next stop is the awe-inspiring Portland Head Light, where we indulge in the region’s best lobster roll from our good friends at Bite Into Maine while soaking up rejuvenating sea views.

After taking ample time to explore the park, we pedal back to downtown Portland. Participants must be 12 years of age or older and comfortable cycling 10 to 12 miles. Please wear athletic clothing. Tours depart from the Portland Encyclepedia at 6 Commercial Street at 9:30 am and typically return around 2:30 pm.

Views were amazing. Guides were friendly and personable. Lobster roll was delicious. I upgraded to the ebike (first time riding one) and 10/10 recommend it. I wasn’t looking for a workout. Just wanted to see the sights and enjoy myself. Portland was my favorite stop from a New England cruise.

Five Stars to Rick (our guide) and the folks at Summer Feet Cycling. The ride was perfectly tailored to our group of nine middle aged individuals. The sights were terrific and the lobster role for lunch was the best I have ever eaten. Thanks for making our time in Maine a memorable experience.

Our Summer Feet cycle along the Maine coast was glorious. In early September, we had perfect weather. We cycled along breathtaking views. Then we caught our breath in quaint Maine towns and fishing villages. Each evening our luggage was waiting for us at a charming inn, where we were served breakfast before heading out the next morning. The Summer Feet staff were friendly and efficient. We will hope to plan another Summer Feet trip soon! Pedal The Coast
