Maine Cycling Vacations

The Maine Coast Was Made to Be Explored by Bike

There is no better way to experience the Maine coast than from the saddle of a bike. The roads are quiet, the scenery unfolds at a pace that actually lets you take it in, and the distance between a harbor village and a lobster shack is almost always exactly right. A Maine cycling cycling vacations for 25 years. We know these roads the way locals do, because we are locals. Whether you’re looking for a guided weeklong tour with boutique inns and daily support, a self-guided inn-to-inn adventure at your own pace, or a shorter multi-day escape, we’ll help you find the right fit.

“It was truly the experience of a lifetime and it ranks up there in the top 2–3 trips of my life. The attention to detail in planning the trip was front and center at every point. The food was spectacular. Thank you so much for creating a business that brings true joy to your clients.”

What a Maine Cycling Vacation Actually Looks Like

A Maine cycling vacation with Summer Feet is built around the coast — but the coast here means something specific: fishing villages, island ferries, Acadia’s carriage roads, the wide harbor at Camden, the working waterfront at Rockland, and the kind of lobster you can only get when you’re twenty feet from the boat.

Most of our cycling vacations run five to seven days and cover 25–65 miles per day depending on the tour, your pace, and whether you choose a standard or e-bike. We design every itinerary so the riding feels earned but never grueling — challenging enough to feel like an adventure, relaxed enough that you arrive at the end of each day ready for a good dinner, not a collapse.

Every detail is arranged before you arrive: premium bikes fitted to you, hand-picked boutique inns, selected meals, route notes or a guide riding alongside you, and a support vehicle on the road. You show up. We handle the rest.

Choose Your Style of Maine Cycling Vacation

We offer two primary ways to experience a Maine cycling vacation. Both include the same quality of route design, hand-picked inns, and local expertise. The difference is how much independence you want on the road.

Guided Cycling Vacations

A Summer Feet guide rides with you every day — setting the pace, sharing the stories, handling the details as they come up. Small groups (typically 4–10 riders), daily route briefings, and the kind of local knowledge you can’t get from a GPS. Best for travelers who want community, storytelling, and someone who knows every hidden overlook on the route. Our weeklong guided tours explore Acadia, Camden, Islesboro, Penobscot Bay, and the Midcoast.

Self-Guided Cycling Vacations

Your pace, your schedule — with everything pre-arranged. We design your route, provide GPS tracks and detailed daily notes, book your inns, and arrange luggage transfers between stops. Our support team is a call away the whole time. Best for travelers who like independence and flexibility but don’t want to manage logistics. Our self-guided tours include the Boothbay to Bar Harbor route and the full Coastal Maine circuit.

“My wife and I just completed the weeklong Gold Coast tour. The whole week was fantastic. Bike rides were picturesque. The rides were challenging but doable. Our guides Rick and Chris attended to all our needs and took care of everything during the trip. An amazing week — would recommend to anyone looking for a bicycle vacation.”
