Is there a chance our trip will be canceled?
Summer Feet loves to run our trips and hates to cancel them. If low enrollment potentially impacts the operation of one of our multi-day tours you have the following options
- We will run the trip for two people for an extra $500.00 per person.
- We will transfer you to another departure and offer a 10% discount.
- Refund your deposit
The exception to this policy is Force Majeure events.
For all our day trips, the minimum number of participants is two.
What is Force Majeure?
We cannot accept liability or pay any compensation where the performance or prompt performance of our contractual obligations is prevented or affected, or you otherwise suffer any loss, injury, death, inconvenience, or damage as a result of circumstances amounting to “force majeure.” “Force majeure” means any event or circumstances which we or the supplier of the services in question could not foresee or avoid. Such events and circumstances may include: acts of God, actual or threatened, war, insurrection, riots, strikes, civil action, decisions by governments or governing authority, technical or maintenance problems with transport, changes of schedules or operational decisions of air carriers, terrorist activity or the threat thereof, industrial action, natural or nuclear activity, epidemics/pandemics or the threat thereof, quarantine, medical or customs or immigration regulation, delay, or cancellation, adverse weather conditions, fire, and all similar events outside our control.
What is your cancellation policy?
Day Trips Cancellation Policy
For day trips, the tour cost is refundable less a $20.00 per person processing fee when canceled 72 hours before departure. Please note that the booking fee from our software provider is non-refundable. Trip insurance can be purchased to allow cancellation up to 24 hours before departure. For tours protected by insurance, customers can receive a full refund of the cost, not including insurance costs and processing fees, on tours canceled up to 24 hours before departure. Tours canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice are not refundable. In the event of a cancellation by Summer Feet Cycling due to weather or other unexpected circumstances, participants will receive a 100% refund of all costs and fees.
Multi-Day Tours Cancellation Policy –
for Maine, Canada, and Europe (except for Italy)
If you cancel 61 or more days before departure, we will refund your deposit less a $200.00 per person cancellation fee. Please note that the booking fees charged by our software provider are non-refundable.
If you cancel between 60 and 31 days before departure, you will receive a 50% refund or a 100% credit for future travel, valid for two years.
If you cancel 30 days or less before departure, there is zero refund. Exceptions to our cancellation policy cannot be made for any reason, including weather, terrorism, civil unrest, or personal emergencies. In addition, there is no refund for arriving late or leaving a trip early. For cancellations less than 30 days in advance due to government travel restrictions, participants will receive a 100% travel credit valid for two years.
Our graduated and time-sensitive cancellation/refund policy is intended as liquidated damages and not as a penalty. Summer Feet Cycling uses participant Tour payments to prepare for the tour, pay its staff and suppliers, and other costs associated with its operations. It is difficult to ascertain the amount of actual loss or damages that would result if a participant or booking party cancels at a given point in time before the start of a tour. As a result, our policy reflects a reasonable estimate of the actual costs Summer Feet Cycling will incur in the event of participant or booking party cancellation at various points before Tour departure.
We strongly recommend you purchase trip cancellation insurance. Summer Feet Cycling LLC assumes no responsibility for non-refundable airline or hotel reservations or other travel costs. In the unlikely event that Summer Feet cancels a trip, you will receive a heartfelt apology, a tale of woe, and a 100% refund.
Where can I get trip insurance? And how much does it cost?
You can obtain trip insurance through Summer Feet Cycling or a third party insurance provider. The cost of insurance is generally a function of trip price, your age, and how far in advance you purchase the insurance. Please call our office for a quote.
What is the difference between guided and self-guided tours?
On guided tours, our staff and support vehicle will be with you throughout the trip, helping you any way they can and sharing their knowledge of the area with you. Also, guided tours include most meals where self-guided tours include breakfast only. On self-guided tours, you will see a Summer Feet staff person on the first and last day of your tour and any day with a scheduled van transfer.
Do I have to carry my luggage on a self-guided tour?
What if I have a flat tire or other mechanical issues on my self-guided tour?
Participants on self-guided tours should be comfortable changing a tire on a bicycle. For other mechanical issues, we will direct you to the nearest bike shop or facetime with you to correct them. If none of these remedies work, we will arrange to have one of our staff repair or replace your bike as soon as possible. Since self-guided tours operate in areas between one and four hours from our offices, we will take these steps as soon a possible.
What if I cannot finish the day’s ride?
What if I can’t or don’t eat lobster?
No worries! Our founder, Norman, is deathly allergic to shellfish. On all our tours, we can accommodate any dietary restrictions or preferences.
What if I really like lobster?
